There are so many projects around Postgres which we rely on to extend functionality of the database engine, connect applications to the database, or simplify management and operations.
The breadth of community around these projects may well not be as broad as that around the core Postgres project. When careers move on, company priorities shift and project teams scale to zero, how do we best manage succession and continuity? What programs should Postgres vendors and major users have in place to support maintainers? Could an umbrella organisation managing a range of extension and utility projects reduce some of these risks for users?
