The Open Alliance for PostgreSQL Education was established through a joint industry effort to create an open, independent, community-driven certification programme for PostgreSQL - the first of its kind. Built by industry experts and active community members, it ensures transparency, trust, and real-world relevance, providing clear, respected accreditation that helps PostgreSQL Database Administrators showcase their expertise.

About the DBA-1 Exam

Designed for junior and aspiring PostgreSQL database administrators, DBA-1 validates the core concepts, responsibilities, and practical knowledge expected in an entry-level DBA role.

Exam details

  • The exam is in-person and proctored, and takes about an hour.
  • Successful candidates receive the PostgreSQL Open Certification – DBA-1 certificate, issued by OAPE.
  • Cost:This exam is free of charge for registered Community Days participants. Please note that this is a one-time offer – future DBA-1 exams will be paid. Participation in Community Days requires separate registration (which involves a fee); the exam itself carries no additional cost.
  • The detailed scope, registration instructions, and exact time are being finalised and will be published here soon.
  • Registration for the exam is done through the OAPE website.
  • This event and the exam are not endorsed by PGEU or PGConf.EU.

What to bring

You only need a laptop with a web browser and the ability to connect to the on-site Wi‑Fi. No special software or personal internet connection is required.

Important: Some company-managed laptops block connections to new or external networks. Please check in advance that your device can join a conference-provided Wi‑Fi network.
